Space; The Final Haiku

by Terrye

What Is Space?

Space is the endless, three-dimensional region that extends beyond our atmosphere in which astronomical elements and events exist and interact. It is most often measured in three linear dimensions, but when considered with time, equates to an infinite four-dimensional continuum identified as Spacetime.

However you define it, I find it fascinating and present four haiku celebrating The Sun, The Moon, The Earth, and The Stars.

For the wise man looks into space and he knows there is no limited dimensions.” – Lao Tzu

“Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me”

The Sun

Burning orb of light

Giving life to all it bathes

Need suntan lotion

“I see a bad moon a’rising”

The Moon

Master of the tides

A glowing orb of silver

What’s on the dark side?

“It’s a wonderful world”

The Earth

Spinning round and round

Like a weightless top in space

Please stop, I want off.

“Twinkle, twinkle…”

The Stars

Twinkling on high

Filling up the dark night’s sky

Joyful stars at play

You can’t talk about space without at least one Star Trek reference. So, here it is.
