About The Misplaced Alaskan

by Terrye

Black mail on Terrye: I guess this is the part where you wanna know more about the flake behind the blog, huh?

Born: Nope, I was spawned in a little town called Searcy, Arkansas on April 3rd, in the year 1968. Yes, I’m old, thank you for asking. But I’m immature, so it’s hard to pin an exact number on my age.

Hometown: Anchorage, Alaska. We moved to Alaska the first time, in 1969. My dad was in the Air Force. We left Alaska in 1971 for Ohio and then Texas. We were stationed back in Alaska in 1975 and that’s where we stayed. Dad retired in 1983 so that we didn’t have to move to Germany in my freshman year of high school. And, they had just bought a house.

My hubby.

Relationships: I’m married to a hardworking, smart-assed, and occasionally accident prone, mechanic busting his ass in a copper mine in the hot desert of southern Arizona.

Education: Yeah, I had to go to school. I probably should have stuck it out and finished my journalism degree, but opted to get married instead. Big mistake. Ten years later, I managed to get an accounting degree and I hate numbers. I’ve spent most of my professional career in some form of writing/editing. And I like it that way.

Employment: I like to say I’m retired because writing is my hobby and my hubby is supporting me. After all, he owes me for supporting him while he was in school learning how to be a mechanic. I’d love to spend more time writing, but I have this little guy named Collin that needs extra attention, so he takes up most of my time.

Hobbies: Sleeping. I’ve almost forgotten what a full nights sleep feels like. I also like photography, outdoors, travel, reading, writing, horses, and bugging the monkey shit out of my husband.

My Bucket List:

  • Make a name for myself in the blogging business (I never said this was going to be a realistic list).
  • Finish one of several books I’ve been toying with for a couple of years (don’t get me started about what’s holding me back – I’ve heard the lectures, I just need to get my ass in gear).
  • Visit the 8 or 10 states that I haven’t been to yet.
  • Travel to all the continents.
  • Sail all seven seas.
  • Ride the Appalacian Trail on horseback.
  • Buy a summer home in Alaska (preferably something coastal).
  • Buy a winter home someplace with warm, sandy beaches and palm trees.
  • Get my son to talk and catch him up to his peers.
  • See the Grand Canyon.
  • Go on a safari in Africa.
  • Make enough money to retire comfortably.
  • Spend a summer looking for the Loch Ness Monster.
  • Cruise Tahiti.
  • Have dinner in Paris.
  • Take the family to Hawaii.
  • Write something meaningful that touches the reader.

Well, that’s about me in one page. If you have any questions, please write them on a piece of paper, but it in a bottle and chuck it into the nearest body of water. I’m sure it’ll get to me in my lifetime.
